Engineers from Hayleys Fentons and HayWind One Limited accelerated foundation construction across project sites in Mannar District following the arrival of major wind turbine components at the Port of Trincomalee.
The 50 MW wind power development represents a key asset in Sri Lanka's renewable energy strategy, contracted to supply clean electricity to the national grid at a tariff of US$ 0.0465 per unit. The facility is expected to generate approximately 180 GWh of clean energy annually.
Energy ministry officials confirmed that the high capacity turbines utilize low-noise, direct drive technology engineered to operate efficiently within northern coastal wind corridors while reducing thermal generation costs.
