The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board (AAIB) has initiated the direct disbursement of climate buffer compensation funds to over 14,000 registered paddy and grain cultivators across the Anuradhapura district today, September 27, 2026.

Following field assessments of late-season water stress and crop yield variations in drought-impacted agrarian divisions such as Thalawa, Medawachchiya, and Horowpathana, the government released verified insurance disbursements into farmers' bank accounts. AAIB regional directors confirmed that the payouts are accompanied by subsidized seed-paddy vouchers for the upcoming 2026/2027 Maha cultivation cycle. The financial assistance ensures that Rajarata agrarian communities possess sufficient liquidity to procure certified high-yield seed varieties, organic soil amendments, and land preparation services on schedule.
