Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation K.D. Lal Kantha officially inaugurated the dedicated Agriculture and Technology Day at the 'Wayamba Abhiman 2026' trade and cultural exhibition held in Kurunegala.

Addressing agrarian officers, farmer organizations, and technology innovators, the minister unveiled provincial pilot programs demonstrating drone-assisted fertilizer application, automated drip irrigation systems, and soil sensor kits tailored for smallholder paddy and coconut cultivations. Agrarian authorities emphasized that adopting smart farming technologies across the North Western Province will optimize water efficiency during erratic monsoon patterns and lower production costs for rural farming families.
