Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited (AASL), in coordination with Katunayake Police, enforced an upgraded vehicular traffic and passenger drop-off system at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today, September 21, 2026.

Under the revised protocol, all arriving and departing passenger vehicles are routed through designated security gates before entering the central terminal corridor. The measure is designed to eliminate roadway bottlenecks during heavy monsoon downpours and facilitate uninterrupted ground handling as passenger volumes increase ahead of the upcoming winter tourism season.
