In an initiative to safeguard ancient metallurgical traditions, traditional brass artisans across Pilimathalawa in the Kandy district have partnered with the Central Cultural Fund (CCF) and its National Replica School to expand living heritage workshops and master-craft apprenticeships.

Pilimathalawa has stood for generations as Sri Lanka's cultural epicenter for hand-beaten brassware, religious oil lamps, and intricate temple artifacts. Under the enhanced conservation initiative, veteran master craftsmen will mentor young apprentices in traditional lost-wax casting, repoussé engraving, and alloy metallurgy, ensuring centuries-old Kandyan artisan expertise is actively transmitted to future generations.
