During seasonal monsoon wind transitions, strong lagoon tidal surges frequently overtop low-lying road shoulders, causing saline waterlogging and pavement degradation. Engineers installed rock armor rip-rap embankments, geotextile sand containment mattresses, and widened tidal exchange culverts to dissipate water velocity. Municipal officials confirmed that the upgraded causeway infrastructure ensures uninterrupted vehicular transit for island residents, schools, and emergency responders even during heavy oceanic squalls.
