The Coconut Cultivation Board (CCB) has launched an expanded regional credit and subsidy package in Kurunegala, assisting smallholder plantation owners to install water-efficient drip irrigation networks and biological moisture-conservation trenches across the Coconut Triangle.

Agricultural economists noted that prolonged dry spells and pest stresses have impacted regional nut yields. The newly structured concessionary loan facility, disbursed in partnership with regional agricultural banks, equips growers with capital to invest in solar-powered tubewells and organic mulching, safeguarding national coconut production against seasonal climate volatility.
