Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama has ordered parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa to be further remanded in judicial custody until September 29, 2026, following submissions made by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

Rajapaksa was taken into custody in connection with ongoing investigations into an alleged Rs. 100 million financial transaction associated with past aircraft procurement deals involving the national carrier, SriLankan Airlines. Defense attorneys submitted bail applications citing cooperation with judicial procedures, but the magistrate remanded the suspect pending further investigative reports and witness statements submitted by state prosecutors.
