Wholesale trading activity surged at the Dambulla Dedicated Economic Center in the Matale District this weekend as large consignments of upcountry vegetables arrived from Nuwara Eliya, Galewela, and regional farming clusters.

Traders noted stable supply conditions across staple produce, with wholesale carrots holding at Rs. 185 per kilogram, ash plantains between Rs. 100 and 130, and thai eggplants moving between Rs. 160 and 220. Economic Center management emphasized that the central distribution facility continues to handle over 2,000 tons of daily farm produce smoothly, ensuring consistent supply chains to the Western Province and regional commercial consumer centers.
