The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) and the National Building Research Organisation have placed divisional officers in Rattota, Laggala, and Ukuwela on high alert due to prolonged monsoon downpours saturating hilly terrain across Matale.

Specialist geological teams cautioned that cutting slopes along major rural mountain routes remain vulnerable to sudden slips following cumulative rainfall over recent weeks. Residents in designated high-risk pockets have been instructed to maintain constant communication with Grama Niladhari officers and evacuate promptly if ground cracks or shifting trees are observed.
