Emergency response crews from the Kandy Municipal Council and Sri Lanka Police successfully cleared fallen tree debris along Station Road near the Kandy Railway Station today, September 21, 2026, restoring traffic flow after heavy monsoonal wind gusts toppled a large roadside tree earlier in the day.

While two parked vehicles sustained minor damages, municipal authorities reported no severe casualties. Highway maintenance engineers across the Central Province have deployed roving rapid-response clearing squads along the William Gopallawa Mawatha and Kandy–Colombo highway corridors to address tree falls and ensure unhindered transit for commuter buses and emergency vehicles.
