The relocation shifts High Court and Magistrate proceedings outside the centuries-old ramparts of UNESCO World Heritage Site Galle Fort. Vacated colonial-era judicial buildings within the Fort are slated for restoration under public-private heritage tourism partnerships. Archaeological and urban planning authorities confirmed that removing high-volume daily commuter traffic will protect historic Dutch brickwork while preserving the ramparts' cultural authenticity.
