Under the newly enacted National Strategic Framework for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Sector (2026–2035), the Vocational Training Authority (VTA) and Gampaha Technical College have inaugurated high-demand vocational training streams targeting district youth and school leavers.

The upgraded National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) courses focus on industrial electronics, automated manufacturing systems, and digital instrumentation tailored to meet recruiting demands from the Katunayake and Biyagama Export Processing Zones. Program directors emphasized that the subsidized courses provide direct apprenticeships with leading private sector engineering companies, empowering local talent with sustainable technical livelihoods.
