COLOMBO — In a major initiative aimed at eliminating bureaucratic delays and fostering a frictionless business ecosystem, the Government of Sri Lanka has announced the upcoming commissioning of the National Business Facilitation Center on September 22, 2026.

Located in the commercial heart of Colombo 7, the newly established facility will serve as a centralized single-window coordination hub where domestic entrepreneurs, SME owners, and international investors can directly resolve regulatory, legal, and operational bottlenecks across state institutions.

The facility integrates senior desk officers from key regulatory bodies, including the Board of Investment (BOI), the Department of the Registrar of Companies, the Department of Inland Revenue, the Urban Development Authority (UDA), and the Central Environmental Authority (CEA). By co-locating decision-makers, the center aims to dramatically cut processing times for commercial approvals, land leases, and utility connections.

"Our objective is to dismantle administrative friction that has historically slowed down project execution," stated trade ministry officials during a preparatory inspection. "The Colombo 7 center will provide direct escalation mechanisms for investor grievances and accelerate private sector capital deployment nationwide."
