The Department of National Botanic Gardens hosted a weekend environmental education program at the historic Henarathgoda Botanical Garden in Gampaha, bringing together junior nature clubs from primary schools across the district.

Students engaged in interactive discovery walks led by resident botanists, learning practical methods of plant nursery propagation, composting, and the ecological importance of preserving Sri Lanka's endemic flora. Educators highlighted that providing young children with immersive outdoor nature experiences fosters lifelong environmental stewardship and instills active conservation values during formative school years.
