Persistent heavy monsoon showers and prolonged cloud cover across the Nuwara Eliya mountain range caused August High Grown tea production to decline to 3.1 million kilograms, according to market data compiled by the Colombo Tea Traders' Association.

Estate superintendents reported that the absence of adequate sunlight impeded tender leaf flushes, lowering green leaf yields across prime high-elevation plantations in Talawakelle, Nanu Oya, and Nuwara Eliya. Industry analysts note that despite the drop in harvest volume, international auction prices for signature Nuwara Eliya seasonal teas remain robust due to tight global supply for premium single-origin Ceylon teas.
