Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala confirmed that the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) has issued an official Blue Notice regarding former Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa, acting upon a formal request by Sri Lanka's Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

An INTERPOL Blue Notice serves to collect additional information about an individual's identity, location, or activities in relation to a criminal investigation. Minister Wijepala stated that the notice will assist domestic judicial authorities in verifying overseas residence and travel details required for ongoing state investigations into public financial administration during his tenure in cabinet.
