The Department of Irrigation in Kurunegala has finalized a comprehensive water distribution timetable for the Deduru Oya multipurpose reservoir, ensuring equitable canal releases for farmer organizations preparing for the upcoming Maha cultivation season.

Following joint cultivation meetings chaired by district agricultural officials, reservoir engineers confirmed that storage levels remain sufficient to supply right-bank and left-bank main canals irrigating over 30,000 acres of farmland. The structured release plan also preserves essential reserves for regional drinking water purification schemes, mitigating downstream salinity intrusions.
