Gauging stations at Panadugama and Pitabaddara recorded steady inflows, approaching initial alert levels before stabilizing later in the day. River engineers confirmed that while there is no immediate flood threat to urban Matara, floodgates and localized salinity barriers are being closely regulated to safeguard agricultural tracts and prevent seasonal backflow into low-lying paddies.
