In response to persistent downpours elevating water levels in the Kuda Ganga and upper Kalu Ganga basins, engineers completed reinforced sheet-piling along critical low-lying river bends in Kuruwita, Elapatha, and Ratnapura town. Concurrently, regional disaster monitoring units calibrated automated ultrasonic telemetry stations linked to the national RiverNet warning grid, ensuring downriver farming communities receive instantaneous evacuation alerts if river thresholds reach critical spill levels.
