With wind speeds gusting up to 45 km/h across the Palk Strait due to the active Bay of Bengal deep depression system, local fiber-boat operators were cautioned against deep-sea fishing expeditions. Fisheries cooperative officials advised beach-landing craft to remain securely anchored in sheltered coves until wave turbulence subsides over the next 24 hours.
