Civil works under the Integrated Road Investment Program (iRoad) across Kalutara District reached full operational momentum entering August 2026. Backed by a Rs. 1.34 billion commitment co-funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Sri Lankan government, the project target covers 14 regional road segments. Key corridors undergoing asphalt carpeting, drainage culvert reconstruction, and slope stabilization include vital feeder routes in Agalawatta, Matugama, and Bandaragama divisions. District engineers confirmed that over 40% of preliminary earthworks have been completed ahead of monsoon schedules. Local agricultural cooperatives emphasized that the upgraded road network will drastically improve market access for rubber smallholders, tea growers, and rural transport operators across the district.
