The Kandy Cultural Performing Arts Academy launched an intensive apprentice training workshop along the Kandy Lake cultural promenade today, September 22, 2026, dedicated to preserving heritage ritual choreography.

Master artistes instructed young performers in the intricate polyrhythmic structures of the Geta Bera drum and the controlled techniques of classical fire dancing (Gini Sisila). Cultural officers emphasized that formalizing apprenticeships provides provincial youth with accredited performing arts credentials while preserving centuries-old temple performance traditions that form the bedrock of Sri Lanka’s cultural tourism.
