The Kurunegala Zonal Education Office, in partnership with the Provincial Department of Agriculture, has officially launched junior agro-technology clubs across 30 primary and secondary schools in the district.

Inspired by demonstration exhibits at the 'Wayamba Abhiman 2026' exhibition, the school program provides students with miniature hydroponics kits, compost management units, and rainwater collection barrels to cultivate organic vegetables in school garden plots. Education directors highlighted that engaging young students in practical agricultural sciences builds environmental stewardship and foundational technical skills, encouraging future generations to modernize Sri Lanka's agricultural sector.
