The Department of Meteorology has issued a comprehensive regional weather advisory warning that showery conditions across the southwestern coastal belt, including Galle, are forecast to intensify significantly from September 19.

Fairly heavy thundershowers exceeding 50 mm, accompanied by temporary localized wind gusts of up to 50 km/h, are expected along the coastal sea areas extending from Bentota through Galle down to Weligama. The Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has instructed harbor management teams at the Galle Fishery Harbour to advise operators of small-scale fiberglass craft and multi-day vessels to exercise extreme vigilance in turbulent offshore sea conditions.
