The Department of Meteorology has issued an amber weather alert for the Kalutara District as intense southwestern monsoon showers brought over 100 mm of rainfall to catchment areas surrounding the Kalu Ganga basin.

The Irrigation Department has advised residents living in low-lying riverside communities, particularly across Horana, Millaniya, and Dodangoda, to remain vigilant regarding rapid rises in stream levels. Regional Disaster Management Center (DMC) units have pre-positioned rescue boats and emergency response teams at divisional secretariats to manage potential localized waterlogging.
