The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) today, September 24, 2026, extended its Level 1 (Yellow) landslide early warning advisory for selected divisional secretariats in the Gampaha District, particularly focusing on vulnerable terrain across Mirigama and Attanagalla.

Disaster mitigation officers cautioned that continuous rain bands associated with monsoon squalls have heightened slope saturation in elevated rural pockets. The Gampaha District Disaster Management Coordinating Unit has instructed local Grama Niladhari divisions and community disaster volunteer teams to monitor cut slopes, retaining structures, and ground fissure developments, urging residents in high-risk zones to heed temporary evacuation advisories if downpours persist.
