Traditional marionette performers and folk dramatic troupes staged an outdoor cultural showcase at the Nuwara Wewa amphitheater in Anuradhapura today, September 23, 2026.

The festival featured handcrafted wooden string puppets (Rukada Natum) portraying historic folktales alongside performances of Sokari and Kolam comedic theater. Local families and domestic travelers gathered along the lakeside promenade, celebrating indigenous performing arts that have enriched village community gatherings across the Dry Zone for centuries.
