Civil engineering teams from the Road Development Authority (RDA) have entered final phases of redevelopment along key mountain highway corridors in Nuwara Eliya District. Focused site works include slope anchoring along the Peradeniya–Badulla main road and complete asphalt carpeting on the Tawalantenne–Talawakele route. Retaining walls engineered with heavy drainage weep-holes have been constructed to prevent monsoon landslides along steep passes. District transport authorities confirmed that the reinforced roads will restore smooth transit for tea export container trucks and regional passenger buses.
