The Road Development Authority (RDA) has issued official tender notices for the rehabilitation and structural upgrade of the Wattegama–Kandenuwara–Wariyapola road link spanning Matale District. The tender package encompasses carpet resurfacing, retaining wall construction along hilly curves, and storm-water culvert widening. A mandatory pre-bid technical conference for civil engineering contractors is scheduled for August 18, 2026. District transport officers confirmed that the upgraded highway corridor will enhance safety for daily commuter buses and heavy freight vehicles moving between Matale and Kurunegala.
