Work on the monumental Rs. 73 billion Kalu Ganga Water Supply Project has gathered significant momentum, with project engineers reporting critical milestones reached in pipeline installation and intake treatment facility upgrades across the Kalutara district.

The project is designed to provide sustainable, purified piped water to over 400,000 residents across Kalutara, Beruwala, Panadura, and surrounding rural communities, directly tackling seasonal saline intrusion and groundwater contamination issues. Health authorities noted that expanding reliable water infrastructure is central to mitigating waterborne illnesses and ensuring community well-being across the southwest coastal belt.
