A state-of-the-art Child Development and Protection Center, constructed at a cost of Rs. 94 million, was officially inaugurated at the Nuwara Eliya Regional Directorate of Health Services premises.

Equipped with specialized pediatric evaluation clinics, sensory therapy rooms, and emergency counseling units, the center provides dedicated developmental support for children from plantation communities and rural upcountry villages. Provincial health directors noted that the facility addresses critical gaps in child mental wellness, early childhood screening, and child safety intervention throughout the district.
