The Road Development Authority (RDA) expressway operations division completed urgent drainage retrofitting works along the Southern Expressway (E01) corridors passing through the Kalutara District today, September 23, 2026.

Maintenance crews deployed heavy earth-moving equipment to clear roadside retention basins and culverts connecting the Dodangoda and Galanigama interchange junctions. RDA highway officials noted that the newly reinforced subterranean drainage pipes prevent monsoonal surface water accumulation on high-speed expressway lanes, ensuring uninterrupted transit for inter-provincial passenger coaches and freight logistics heading toward the southern coast.
