The Southern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in coordination with the Sri Lanka Tea Board, has established emergency transit arrangements for low-country tea factories operating in the interior of the Galle District.

With torrential rain causing localized mud deposits along rural access roads in Neluwa, Hiniduma, and Nagoda, dedicated tractor convoys and 4x4 transport units have been organized to collect freshly plucked green leaf from smallholder estates. Factory managers emphasized that timely transit prevents post-harvest leaf fermentation, ensuring Galle's celebrated low-grown Tippy teas maintain export grade standards for upcoming Colombo tea auctions.
