The Ministry of Health's national Special Dengue Control and Eradication Week officially concluded on September 19, with health authorities focusing intensive field operations across high-risk Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions in the Gampaha district.

Surveillance data indicates that Gampaha has recorded over 20,700 cumulative dengue cases this year, making it the most vector-dense district on the island. Multi-agency inspection teams comprising Public Health Inspectors (PHIs), armed forces personnel, and community volunteers inspected more than 35,000 residential premises, schools, and commercial construction sites across Kelaniya, Wattala, and Negombo, issuing legal notices to recurring offenders to eradicate vector habitats before seasonal monsoon rains intensify.
