High-level diplomatic discussions between Sri Lankan and Thai authorities are advancing rapidly to institute a dedicated bilateral travel and visa facilitation arrangement. The bilateral talks follow Thailand's broad recalibration of general visa exemption categories effective September 15.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath confirmed that both governments are actively coordinating through the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo to establish enhanced immigration verification channels that facilitate smooth, hassle-free travel for bonafide tourists, entrepreneurs, and students, while simultaneously reinforcing international border security protocols.
