Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) inaugurated a specialized grassroots talent development scheme in Galle today, September 24, 2026, building upon the national women's cricket team's historic silver medal achievement at the 2026 Asian Games.

Under the Southern Province initiative, Galle International Cricket Stadium and affiliated regional grounds will host dedicated coaching clinics featuring synthetic turf practice nets, biomechanical analysis tools, and fitness conditioning for promising under-17 boys and girls. SLC officials commended southern players for their prominent contributions to national squads and pledged sustained investment in school cricket tournaments to identify and groom future international competitors.
