The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL), in strategic partnership with the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA), unveiled the rollout schedule for 573 newly commissioned telecom base towers in Colombo today, September 23, 2026.

Operating under the 'Gamata Sannivedanaya' (Connectivity to the Village) digital infrastructure framework, the project deploys high-capacity optical fiber backhauls and energy-resilient solar towers to underserved rural communities across all nine provinces. Digital economy officials noted that expanding ubiquitous mobile broadband empowers provincial students, healthcare clinics, and micro-entrepreneurs with reliable digital access, laying the foundation for nationwide digital public infrastructure expansion.
