To maintain environmental standards across Southern Province resort hubs, the Southern Provincial Tourism Bureau partnered with Unawatuna Hoteliers Association to launch a sustainable infrastructure package. The framework introduces a one-way traffic management loop along narrow resort streets, dedicated electric shuttle transport, and beachfront plastic collection stations. Municipal teams are also executing coastal dune stabilization to preserve Unawatuna's renowned crescent beach. Tourism representatives highlighted that eco-certification and improved transit amenities will support sustainable year-round visitor arrivals.
