The Faculty of Computing and Technology (FCT) at the University of Kelaniya unveiled its latest indigenous artificial intelligence and natural language processing initiatives at its Dalugama campus today, September 26, 2026.

Spearheaded by the Centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CDS-AI), university researchers have expanded the 'Subasa' low-resource linguistic framework to improve automated Sinhala text comprehension, content moderation, and public sector document parsing. Faculty researchers, in partnership with industrial consortia, also demonstrated AI-driven workforce optimization algorithms engineered for high-density manufacturing plants across the Gampaha export corridor, showcasing how home-grown computational research delivers tangible productivity gains for national enterprises.
