The master plan spans the historic Matara Rest House peninsula to the mouth of the Nilwala River estuary, incorporating paved pedestrian walkways, solar street lighting, coastal bike lanes, and reinforced rock armoring to prevent shoreline erosion. Commercial kiosks for local artisans and seafood vendors are included in designated plazas. Civil engineers confirmed that site works will commence in Q4 2026, creating a major leisure asset for residents and domestic tourists.
