The Urban Development Authority (UDA) has unveiled its strategic 'Smart Gampaha' master blueprint for 2026, aimed at modernizing urban transit and green spaces across the district. Central to the framework is a multi modal transport hub near Gampaha railway station, designed to seamlessly connect bus, rail, and commuter traffic. The plan incorporates AI powered adaptive traffic signals, smart parking management systems, and pedestrian friendly green walkways. UDA officials stated that public/private partnerships will fund the digital control center, establishing Gampaha as a benchmark for sustainable smart city urban planning in Sri Lanka.
