A comprehensive progress review conducted by the Wayamba Provincial Department of Education revealed that the universal morning school meal initiative has significantly boosted daily classroom attendance and student engagement across more than 450 rural primary schools in Kurunegala.

Operating under the national 'Healthy Active Generation' framework with an increased budget of Rs. 110 per meal, primary students (Grades 1–5) receive balanced hot breakfasts formulated with local agricultural produce, fresh milk, and fortified grains. Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) conduct routine hygiene inspections of school kitchens, ensuring safe food preparation standards and promoting lifelong nutritional awareness among young learners.
