Agronomists and postgraduate researchers at the Faculty of Agriculture and Plantation Management (FAPM) of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka expanded their field trials on climate-smart soil management today, September 21, 2026, across commercial coconut estates in the Kurunegala District.

Utilizing digital soil moisture profilers and organic mulch mulching techniques, the research team is analyzing subterranean moisture retention during monsoon transitions. The findings aim to provide smallholder coconut growers with actionable, low-cost water conservation strategies to withstand impending dry spells and optimize flowering yields across the national coconut triangle.
